Shooting weddings is hardly what I do all day everyday, but there isn't usually anyone hanging around to photograph me sitting behind my computer processing all the shoots and orders, or when I meet with customers, or make trips to the lab, or work on marketing and business. . .
So y'all get to see the photos of me doing the more glamorous side of my job--I don't document myself on Sunday mornings either, hobbling into church like I'm crippled cause I worked so hard at the wedding the day before. haha. But I so love my job. I get excited working with couples on their wedding day, and shooting engagement photos, and helping the brides feel like models for their bridal portraits, and getting ladies to have fun and feel great about themselves during their boudoir sessions, and collapsing into a chair in my studio after kids sessions. I get so excited when I see the light through my lens, and usually that excitement comes spilling out of my mouth in the middle of the shoot. Most of the time people probably think I'm weird, but hopefully, once in a while, someone recognizes I'm just really passionate about my art. Love love it.
Here are some fun photos (from other photographers and friends) of me at a few weddings this past year.
The first couple shots were taken by April. They're from weddings I worked as a second shooter for Evoke Photography. I have a ton of gorgeous photos from these weddings that I'll share with you all in the coming months.
My friend Becca worked with me at a couple recent weddings. She grabbed these with Jonathan and me at Jennifer and Bill's wedding in October.
Jonathan got my camera during my cupcake and coffee break towards the end of the evening at my sis-in-law, Kathryn's wedding. (More from this wedding here and here.)
And I thought I was going to continue to take photos during my one dance.
But thankfully our friend Dean had better ideas. Here are a couple of his photos.
One more from Becca.

Mrs. Mitchell
Callie and Devin got married in Wilmington this past weekend at the Balcony on Dock. This is one of her final images from her bridal session in the cotton field this past fall. The guests at the wedding love, loved this photo. yea!! Callie's beautiful veil and dress are from Tre Bella Bridal in Durham, NC.
The Hebrew scripture on the photo is Song of Solomon 8:6-7. Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame. Many waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot wash it away. If one were to give all the wealth of his house for love, it would be utterly scorned.

Market Street Advisors
Occasionally I take photos for businesses for their websites and advertising. These usually include photos of their office or store space and head shots of the owners and employees. Right now I'm working with Andrea at Market Street Advisors in Downtown Smithfield, NC as they update their website.
Crystal is the lovely receptionist.
They also wanted details from the office to use on the website. Here are a few:

Christmas Card Sample
These are the front cover and inside spread for a pretty Christmas card. This is also a sneak sneak peek of my November 29th wedding at King Family Vineyards in Crozet near Charlottesville, VA.
This was my sis-in-law's wedding. My husband and I had 3 nieces born in his family this year, so my mother-in-law wanted the main Christmas card photo to be with all 5 grandchildren and the bride and groom--her daughter and new son-in-law.
FYI: I'm in the smaller group photo, 3rd adult from the right, standing next to Jonathan in the tan suit. AND I made the twin girls little navy dresses. I realize all this is microscopic on the screen, but I thought you should all be informed anyway.

jennifer and bill's wedding day
Jennifer and Bill were married at Providence Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC. It was rainy or overcast most of the day, but the sun peeked out for a few minutes between the ceremony and reception and we had an awesome opportunity to get outside for some fun photos of the new family.
I was told that Bill asked Jennifer out on their first date at this tree & this is where he proposed.
Becca set up this fabulous shot.
some sparkling cider for the toasts.
too much? probably. but it's still fun.

Texture?
Let me know what you think. with or without. This is my first attempt at using added texture so I'm open to suggestions for tweaks or complete overhauls. (I'm always open for suggestions--critiques are good.)

Update
1. Jonathan and I have been married just over one year. One year and almost two weeks. On Nov 14th last year we woke up in an awesome bed and breakfast on Lake Como in Italy and got on a train and headed for Milan where we went shoe shopping. hehe. The next day we flew back to Raleigh.
2. I started missing Italy this year when the weather started getting cool. We had such an amazing honey moon traipsing around the country.
3. On Nov 14th this year (that's today) we close on our house we're selling. Big huge deal. I'm really excited our house sold so we can live closer to work and get our lives back, but wow, I'm so sad to leave our house. I think it will be better when we have a new house to live in. A new home.
4. I finally have portrait customers. YEA. My business has been (literally) 10 times better this year than last with weddings, but the portrait side had been kinda slow all year til now. I have been praying for a more balanced schedule--that God would provide portrait shoots like He has provided weddings--and He answered "yes". Not what I would have chosen my schedule to look like, but this certainly works too. Praise God.
5. I'm excited about my family and kid sessions over the next couple months.
6. I'm excited about photos with Santa next week. We still have spots available. Contact me if you want to come.
7. I love how well all the Harvest and Halloween Mini Sessions went. All the parents were super chill, which is sooo helpful when photographing children, and it made my life much sweeter. You can see all these cute kids on three different posts. here, here, and here.
8. My fall mini session customers helped with a food drive. I dropped off the food today with the soup kitchen at First Baptist Church in Smithfield, NC. They'll deliver the food that they can't use for their ministry to food pantry in town.
9. Last week I cut my finger well enough to require stitches--and they are through my fingernail. This has made work interesting and it's been super inconvenient for packing to move. The constant pain is very draining too, which might be helping to magnify being sad about leaving our house.
10. Tomorrow I will (probably) get my stitches out, at which point the PA treating me will show me how to use super glue on my nail and finger until the nail grows out. Lovely.
11. I bought super glue gel yesterday.
12. I'm working hard on a wedding from late October, so you'll get to see some new wedding photos soon.
That's all the life and work updates for now.
