Change is good

I want to let all you blog readers know about a big studio change I’m making over the next couple weeks—and I’m so excited. I’ve been renting some of my studio equipment over the past few years, and I’ve finally decided take the big step to invest in more of my own equipment and stop renting. So, I have a new studio set up with new lights, 6 new backdrops, yea, and some other required, boring, equipment. I’m keeping my same office and studio location.

I have one last formal bridal session scheduled with the current equipment for this Saturday afternoon, then I’ll be making the transition. The new stuff is going to be great for family photos, kids, high school seniors (more on seniors’ summer specials soon), etc. I’m not sure how formal bridal portraits are going work in the studio after the change, but I have an AMAZING back up plan. Oh, I’m so pumped!!!

Right now I have a couple brides scheduled for location bridal shoots. One is this Sunday, and the other will likely be in early fall. I’m really looking forward working with these ladies outside the studio for some amazing pre-wedding portraits. I’ll have to see what I can do about posting one or two images from this weekend, before the wedding. No bride wants to spoil the anticipation of the dress, so I’ll have to be careful about what I choose.

Here are a few quick wedding day shots so you can see the potential. Hopefully the weather will cooperate this weekend and we can get some gorgeous outdoor portraits.

Before & After

Sweet baby boy. These photos are from earlier this year--Caitlyn and Daniel 6 weeks before Fielder was born, and then photos from Fielder's infant portrait session when he was not quite 5 weeks old. I enjoyed shooting my first ever maternity session with Caitlyn. The lighting style I used was similar to my fine art/form work I love, but don't do a lot.

As with any photography I do for customers, it's totally up to the customer what style we shoot. I always talk to my customers before any wedding or portrait sessions to hear what they want for their finished photographs. As much as I love shooting the contemporary, urban, or photojournalist style, I totally understand the desire for timeless, traditional photographs. Just let me know what you want; I'm pretty accommodating.

Fielder paid a lot of attention to my camera's auto focus noises.

May Eagle Scouts

I'm reposting a couple of these guys and adding some more. My most recent Eagle Scout shoot was with Will and Brian--brothers. Their Eagle ceremony was this past Saturday, so I photographed them a couple weeks ago. They ordered a wall portrait of the two together which looked AWESOME!! I always enjoy working with high school students; I'm looking forward to senior portrait sessions this summer.

Child Care

A couple weeks ago my dad and I photographed A LOT of kids (probably about 90) at a child care center near 40/42 in the Cleveland community. The first day we shot babies, one, and two year olds--just half a day, and we were completely worn out. I seriously went home and took a nap. The next day we worked with a much more manageable crowd of three, four, and five year olds. It was a lot of fun, but definitely a good reminder of why this thing we do everyday is called WORK.

I'll be at the center at the end of this week with the photos for the parents--just in time for Mother's Day.

the little guys in yellow shirts were some of my favorites
